Sudden letdown for returning passenger

RECENTLY I returned to Cork from Prague, a city that had been behind the Iron Curtain. I got on a plane on an airbridge towing my wheeled carry-on, like most passengers.

Sudden letdown for returning passenger

In Cork, despite the Celtic Tiger, I had to walk down a flight of steps, cross the tarmac in the rain and then climb two flights of stairs to the unloading level. Cork’s airbridges laid dormant.

Which was the Third World country? In Prague, they had company logos on the air bridges to help pay for them.

Cork, in effect, is run by the airlines and the authorities there are useless for the passengers.

Why build a new terminal that can bring business to Cork as the gateway to the south and run it as Ryanair and/or Aer Lingus dictates?

Cork even put in a big restaurant that can only be used by people before they go through security. Plane delayed, too bad. Check-in two hours in advance, as required, and you can put your nose against the glass and look at the nice food. Shame on the airport authority.
