Care service hit

WHILE we have been promised by Health Minister Mary Harney that the vulnerable in society will be protected from the health cutbacks, in reality this is not the case.

For example, personal assistants’ hours have been cut by 30%.

Firstly, this puts unrealistic pressure on those like myself who need the service and also on families who desperately try to bridge the gap. Secondly, the people working in this sector also lose out because their wages are cut without warning.

Typically, those in the administration level or higher up the chain are not cut back.
