Reality check

WE’VE been told by assorted pollsters and pundits that the great majority of young people voted against the Lisbon Treaty.

Reality check

Are they telling us that the most educated, furthest travelled and best fed generation in Irish history didn’t know where their bread had been buttered ever since their parents voted us into Europe in the early 1970s.

Well, if the next generation did as the pollsters say, then it only goes to show that, truly, youth is wasted on the young and their parents should demand a refund of those wasted college fees.

Now we can only hope the recession will teach them that affluence is not a birthright.
