Ahern’s new office - Suite deal for ex-Taoiseach

IN THESE recessionary times it is reassuring to know that certain projects are still treated with the generosity they deserve.

We have often been far too quick tocondemn expenditure committed to the functioning of proper Government.

Criticism of the €220,000 bill for the preparation of a suite of offices for our former head of Government Bertie Ahern falls into this category. What would we have him do? Carry out his work in a Portacabin as if he were a teacher?
