Minister reveals the real disconnect

ON the day of the Lisbon poll count, Foreign Minister Micheál Martin discussed on radio the idea that Europe and its people are disconnected and that the Government should use this period for“reflection”.

However, the minister should look closer for the answer when he refers to himself and his colleagues as “we up here, the elites”.

It is out of character for Mr Martin to let his guard down, but when he does, what an interesting revelation of his of mindset. There may be disconnection with Europe, but it is very clear that there is a greater disconnection between this Government and its people, and the results of this campaign and Mr Martin’s remarks on the radio clearly show this.
