White House race unduly influenced by media
It was so refreshing to read accurate, competent, well-researched journalism rather than the soundbites from the American media that many other broadsheets having been using as their election coverage. Even newspapers with a solid reputation for journalism have in recent times had journalists write phrases like “the genius of Obama” without any substance to back it up.
The US presidential election has been moulded, shaped and unduly influenced by the US media to the point where they are now seen as the key agenda-setters in the race. This is very dangerous development and when the dust settles after polling day on November 4, this issue must be resolved before journalists become no more than purveyors of spin they can make into a juicy story and regurgitate it to the public as if it was all the result of their own hard research and investigation.
