Parading in Lourdes

THE recent trip to Lourdes by 500 members of the Defence Forces, plus President McAleese, for a Catholic celebration passed with little comment.

I wonder would there be a similar silence if they had gone to Mecca.

Incidentally, who paid for this bash?
