No funds for limbs

I WAS horrified to read the report by Dan Buckley headlined ‘It’s a joke. I have to prove he hasn’t grown a leg’ (April 9).

You’d think a child with a disability would come first with our medical services. A parent should not have to go through a constant battle for funds — a prosthetic limb is an absolute necessity for those who need one and the funds should be available when needed.

It just goes to show the appalling state of our medical services. There are funds for sports, arts and lots of other things, so why does this mother and others like her have to fight for funds for their children’ prosthetic limbs.
