De Rossa assaulted by protesters

GARDAÍ are investigating an attack on Dublin MEP Proinsias De Rossa who was attacked and assaulted by a group of anti-Lisbon treaty protesters.

He was knocked to the ground and some of those involved in the fracas sat on his back pinning him to the ground.

The group, believed to be associated with two anti-EU websites, had tried to interrupt a meeting organised by the Labour party in Liberty Hall beforehand.
