THE Mahon Tribunal was set up by the Oireachtas, the parliament of the people, to investigate alleged corruption in the planning process.

For Bertie Ahern to describe some of its activities as “low life stuff” is a disgrace.

Despite the Taoiseach’s protestations to the contrary, we all know it was the professional, forensic and determined probing of this people’s tribunal that rightly brought his career to a sudden end.
