THERE’S a murder a day or more now in our bang-bang republic where the killers have loaded machineguns and the authorities just empty rhetoric.

How can a few gangster families seem to hold the city of Limerick to ransom while a battalion of gardaí are thrown at the problem? Sorry, I forgot the file is being sent to the DPP — and the overtime bill to you and me.
