Bring them home

IN the White House on St Patrick’s Day Taoiseach Bertie Ahern raised with President Bush the issue of Irish citizens living illegally in the US.

Clearly he made no headway on the issue with the president.

Anyway, why is the US expected to accommodate one group of immigrants over another?

Ireland is now one of the richest EU countries, so why doesn’t the Government encourage those illegal immigrants to return to their native land and provide them with jobs in the many multinational companies based in the country.

Forgive me, but I just don’t get it.
