Statistical error

CAN Eilís Grealy (Letters, February 25) be serious when she suggests that the abortion rate in countries where the procedure is illegal should be measured only by the number of abortions officially reported?

If so, then this is surely the clearest demonstration ever of the anti-abortion movement’s ostrich-like approach to the issue: if they don’t see it, it didn’t happen — or it doesn’t count.
