Cromwell’s choice

FURTHER to Oliver McGrane’s letter quoting Oliver Cromwell in seeking the Taoiseach’s resignation (‘Point of departure’, February 5), I think in the circumstances it is only fair to point out that the Lord Protector of England also said: “I had rather have a plain, russet-coated captain that knows what he fights for, and loves what he knows, than that which you call a gentleman and is nothing else”.
