Hunt supporters rally to the cause
The venue was carefully chosen so as to cater for 800 delegates seated. In the event it was standing room only.
Five Fianna Fáil TDs were in attendance — Michael Ahern, Michael McGrath, Noel O’Flynn, Ned O’Keeffe and Christy O’Sullivan.
The agenda included the Ward Union hunt licence, puppy farm regulations, the micro-chipping of hounds and the Animal Welfare Bill. It also included the alleged leaks of confidential information to the Irish Council Against Blood Sports.
The meeting was unanimous in holding Fianna Fáil responsible for bringing the Green party into government.
With only six TDs, and having less than 5% of the popular vote, the ministerial portfolios held by the Green party are grossly in excess of their mandate.
The Green party is perceived to be an urban-based minority interfering with the sporting traditions of hundreds of thousands of countryside dwellers.
This interference with the sporting traditions of thousands of grassroot voters living in the countryside will be their downfall. Hunt rallies have been arranged for Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe, Co Galway, Thursday, January 17, 8pm, and the Mermaid Hotel, William Street, Listowel, Co Kerry, Thursday, January 24, 8pm.
