IN her letter suggesting that opponents of abortion should support legalisation in order to reduce the numbers opting for it, Louise Caffrey (December 29) fails to recognise the ideological grounds for opposition, namely a firm belief in the humanity and right to life of all unborn children.

From that perspective, the act of deliberately killing an innocent unborn child equates to murder.

The word ‘murder’ may not be used too often in this context, and may not be politically correct, but that is the bottom line.
