I WISH to reply to Seferin James and Nicki Ffrench Davis (Letters, January 28) who responded to my earlier letter on abortion. Firstly, Seferin James makes a number of assumptions, mostly incorrect.

IN her letter suggesting that opponents of abortion should support legalisation in order to reduce the numbers opting for it, Louise Caffrey (December 29) fails to recognise the ideological grounds for opposition, namely a firm belief in the humanity and right to life of all unborn children.

HAVING read Mark Evans’ articles on abortion (Irish Examiner, November 1/2), I feel I have to hand it to abortion advocates who have successfully promulgated the most innocuous language to indicate their support for the millions of women who have abortions every year.

THE comments of Caroline Spillane of the Crisis Pregnancy Agency (Irish Examiner letters, June 18) raise serious questions about the Government’s commitment to defend the right to life of the unborn.
