Have your say on the water directive

THE water framework directive is, I believe, one of the best pieces of good news for some time. This important piece of legislation will ensure that all our water sources, including rivers, lakes and groundwater, will be of good quality by 2015.

The Water Matters reports are an important precursor to this. These reports give an overview of the main issues, an outline of the current controls in place and proposals for further measures needed.

Now is the time to have your say. The consultation period runs until December 22. I would appeal to all your readers to look at the report that is relevant to where they live. Have all issues been identified?
