Hanafin book choice more about FF than pupils

I AGREE wholeheartedly with Fr Iggy O’Donovan’s view of Diarmuid Ferriter’s work and the job of historians (Letters, December 7).

However, some of his points in response to my letter of November 30 are misplaced.

My letter did not criticise Dr Ferriter or his work, but Education Minister Mary Hanafin’s action in choosing to send a book that takes a favourable view of de Valera to 2,000 secondary schools.
