THOUSANDS of primary pupils are to get a boost to their enjoyment of reading thanks to a €185,000 gift from a Cork publishing firm.

I AGREE wholeheartedly with Fr Iggy O’Donovan’s view of Diarmuid Ferriter’s work and the job of historians (Letters, December 7).

THE managing director of Mercier Press, Clodagh Feehan, is upset that Diarmaid Ferriter’s major work, Judging Dev, has been circulated to the schools (Letters, December 5).

THERE is no doubt that in Judging Dev, historian and newspaper columnist Diarmaid Ferriter has written a fine book, but it is also one that takes a favourable view of its subject.
