Paul Quinn — the unfortunate young republican battered to death by members of his own community — was not an informer.
He did his own thing odd-jobbing and, like many others in the area, eked out a modest living.
He was lured to his death by two ‘friends’ who were forced to walk him into a deadly trap, set up over time by a well organised group of up to 20 to 30 men.
The International Monitoring Commission (IMC), which fears nothing more than upsetting the stability of the Northern Executive, has clearly stated that “they believe associates of the IRA were involved in the murder of Paul Quinn”.
Republicans in the local area of Cullyhanna believe members of the IRA carried out the murder.
Lest I should be accused of republican-bashing, I have no hesitation in agreeing with the recent IMC report that properly condemns the criminal activities of loyalist paramilitaries who also use the cover of warped patriotism to excuse barbarism.
