Dáil TV channel would show system in action

I DISAGREE with your editorial (November 8) that transmitting “a dedicated Dáil channel on television is a mind-blowing suggestion”.

Consequently, I agree with the Taoiseach when he says the Dáil would be more interesting than “a lot of the tripe that is on TV”.

You ask the question “why should he think that anybody else would be interested?” The answer to that question is that this is a democratic republic. The Dáil is the chamber in which issues that affect all our lives are debated.

Decisions are made there on how billions of our money is spent. The people who take part in these debates and make these decisions were elected by us and are accountable to us.

A dedicated Dáil channel would give all of us a better opportunity to view how the system works. We might even get better attendances in the chamber when all of us could see what was happening there.
