Rules of the Road booklet misses target

RECENTLY the new Rules of the Road booklet arrived on my doorstep along with the eircom phone directories.

Rules of the Road booklet misses target

Gay Byrne has already commented that the Road Safety Authority (RSA) doesn’t seem to be getting the message across to the target group of young males aged 17-to-25. He went on to say that the same target group doesn’t seem to look at television, listen to radio or read the national newspapers.

So, why is it that the RSA seems to think this same category will sit down and trawl their way through a cumbersome and very boring book? Would a CD have been a little bit more effective? It’s cheaper to produce and distribute, kinder to our environment and more relevant to the computer generation.

As an aside, why is it that long after a landline has been removed from a house and the relevant people informed, the new directory continues to show up on the doorstep?
