Maths on ethnic makeup

YOUR second editorial headlined ‘Ethnic makeup — census shows need for tolerance’ (July 27) states, “If you see a black person walking down the street today, the chances are they were born here.”

As only slightly more than 25% of black people in Ireland have been born here, a child could have told you the chances are they were not.
