Pope never tried to cover up scandal

IN his letter headlined ‘Selective responses’, Dick Keane (July 14) claims, incorrectly, that Benedict XVI was the “chief architect” of the child sex abuse scandal. The Pope never imposed any “pontifical secrecy”.

What I find to be even more shocking is the anti-Catholic attitude of the Irish Examiner in continuing to publish Mr Keane’s letters that provide no proof of his reckless and slanderous accusations against the Pope and the Catholic Church.
