Cheap shot at the peacemakers

AS a public relations consultant and a business associate of Alastair Campbell’s, I wish to reply to your columnist Diarmaid Ferriter (July 19).

We sent an invitation to Mr Ferriter to come to Alastair Campbell’s book launch so they could meet face-to-face. Instead, he chose not to attend and hide behind a ‘spin piece’ of his own.

Mr Ferriter writes of Alastair Campbell’s “treachery” against the Irish Labour Party for having expressed his pleasure at Bertie Ahern’s re-election as Taoiseach.
