Education gets a badly needed boost

IN recent years political, community and educational leaders have emphasised the need to live in a society, not just an economy.

Only government policy can ensure this, and the additional €350 million allocated in the programme for government will go some small way to redressing the imbalance in education funding given that Ireland came 29th out of 30 countries in a recent OECD report.

And whatever measures are taken to improve the environment will be cost effective also in the long run.
