No broadband? We can’t even get a phone

SO Dr G Westgate (‘Snail’s progress’, letters May 29) had no choice but to access the internet by phone via eircom in Glenville, Co Cork, because the village does not have broadband.

At least he had the use of a phone line, however slow it might have been.

My family and I recently moved into a newly-built home near Kilbrittain, also in Co Cork, in an area where mobile phone service is variable. Seven weeks previously, we applied to eircom to connect us to the phone ‘network’.
