Ireland’s West ignored for the last decade
This is of no comfort to the people of Galway with their undrinkable water or the people in Erris who continue to drink water containing grossly high levels of aluminium from Lough Carrowmore.
The money from the Rossport ‘project’ will all go to Norway thanks to the deal made with Statoil while the Taoiseach was minister for finance.
Recently, I have noticed the many articles extolling the virtues of Norway as a holiday destination.
What we should remember when we look at the beautiful holiday advertisements for Norway, gushing about the purity of the air and water, is that we have licensed Shell to destroy the Irish landscape at the expense of the Norwegians preserving theirs. Amazing.
Jack Power, (Weekend, April 28) talks of his visit to Norway as a very rewarding experience. Good for you, Jack. He ends his very well-written piece saying that Norway “is just like the west of Ireland before Paul Henry led the charge.”
It wasn’t Henry that kicked the West of Ireland into touch, it has been the policies of this Government!
