INADEQUATE childrens’ healthcare services were highlighted again in the report (Irish Examiner, March 23) that, unlike children elsewhere in the State, those in Cork are not automatically given the BCG vaccine against TB.

This is a disgraceful state of affairs made worse by the fact that those caring for children (or the elderly) are not obliged to produce a certificate of a clean bill of health before being employed.

And to add insult to injury, mammograms for women living in the south are still not available free, as they are in other parts of the country. Why is this? Do we pay less tax than those living in the rest of the country? I think not.
