I WAS amazed at your report on the Limerick County Council chairman being ‘ordered’ by a member of Newcastle West Lions Club to remove his chain of office at a fundraiser for Newcastle West Alzheimer’s Society (Irish Examiner, March 20).

Such trivia. What a pity you missed the real story: €25,000 raised at the event for this most worthy cause. By the way, I am not a member of or associated with either the Lions Club or the Alzheimer’s Society
