Busy time for frisky foxes

CALM NIGHTS at this time of year often get rather noisy in my part of the world. The culprits are foxes, which mate between late December and early February.

Although mating foxes start the racket, it’s often picked up by the neighbourhood dogs.

Then the cock pheasants roosting in the trees wake up and give their harsh alarm calls. So much for the peace of the countryside.
