I DISAGREE with the Taoiseach’s recent comment that BUPA is trying to “screw” elderly people.

My wife and I are in our 70s and have been members of BUPA for the last eight years. This year, we availed of a comprehensive half-day health screening at Shanakiel Hospital in Cork.

BUPA offered this screening for a six-month period, free of charge for all members over 65. The service and attention we received at Shanakiel was superb and a BUPA representative phoned us afterwards to make sure we were satisfied with the health screening.
