O’Donoghue should tackle real problems

IN response to John O’Donoghue’s scathing attack on Fine Gael’s crime strategies (Irish Examiner letters, November 23), I suggest the minister’s time would be better served if he showed as much enthusiasm in delivering the extra 2,000 gardaí who we were promised before the last general election and formulating policies to tackle the huge increases in crime while his party has been in government.

O’Donoghue should tackle real problems

With the most recent CSO figures showing massive increases in headline crime rates — murder +15.8%, aggravated sexual assault +83.3% and aggravated burglary +12.3% — it is worrying that the only reaction of the former Minister for Zero Tolerance is to spend his time penning letters attempting to ridicule Fine Gael.
