From a distance

I HAVE just returned from a holiday to West Bengal and Sikim in India — one of the remotest parts of that country, on the edge of the Himalayas.

From a distance

During the 18 days I spent there, while in small towns and trekking in the mountains, I had complete mobile telephone coverage and was able to keep in contact with friends and family at home all the time. What a change from living in west Cork, in a supposedly modern country where for the most part there is no coverage, and where there is, it is very hit-and-miss. It can hardly be blamed on the mountainous terrain.
