Time for new tactics

THE Government’s handling of the garda operation at Bellanaboy leaves a lot to be desired.

The use of batons to control civil protest is a dubious exercise that could provoke further anger. The gardaí also seemed over-zealous in the use of batons and other powers.

It’s time for a reassessment before somebody is killed or permanent damage is done to the public image of the gardaí.
