Gems or eyesores?

IT was with horror that I viewed the pictures of Cork’s ‘most beautiful’ buildings and the accompanying invite to select your favourite building by text (Irish Examiner, November 1).

How the North Main Street car park, the Victoria Cross apartments and Mahon Point shopping centre made the shortlist is beyond me.

Could it be they were added as red herrings to see if your readers have any taste, or maybe to test their sense of humour? Please, in future, let’s not advertise our eyesores so publicly. ‘Pink elephant’ buildings might have been a more appropriate heading.
