State should reclaim natural resources

NEITHER the Arab oil producers nor the Russian conglomerate Gazprom give away oil and gas for nothing, so why should we allow Shell virtually free access to the Corrib field?

The Government should reclaim our natural resources for the benefit of the people, abolish personal income tax and replace it with the revenues generated by the Corrib field while investing the balance in pensions, education, healthcare and proper social and recreational infrastructure.

The Government should also publish all documentation related to how Shell was able to acquire the Corrib gas field for next to nothing, and develop a new natural resources policy whereby the Irish people alone become the beneficiaries of our natural wealth.
