Some charities need to show their credentials

CHARITIES have indeed embedded themselves in the Irish psyche (Terry Prone, October 9).

The one small cloud on the horizon is that it is difficult for the public to evaluate charities — unsolicited ‘black bag’ clothes collections in particular.

Unknown groups push black plastic bags through letter boxes and invite residents to fill them with discarded clothes and leave them outside the door.

How is the ordinary person to know if the charity is bona fide?
