Now let’s turn to the conflict at home

WE seem to be a nation united in seeing the Hezbollah-Israeli conflict brought to a speedy end.

Now let’s turn to the conflict at home

This solidarity is commendable. However, we do need to remember problems closer to home.

The ongoing sectarian war in Northern Ireland should receive similar undivided attention.

If only a fraction of the energy put into urging peace elsewhere in the world was put into ending sectarianism on this island, we would be in a much better position.

Why are we always concerned with other peoples conflicts while forgetting our own?
