Ask Hezbollah to stop indiscriminate killings
But I guess their simplistic anti-war philosophy stops short of thinking that years of attacks against the Jewish state, together with the failure of the Palestinian leadership to take advantage of the many opportunities to reach a peaceful and just settlement, are responsible for the current tragic crisis.
And clearly they would have no concern for those being slaughtered in Israel.
In calling for boycotts and for trade unions and labour movements to rise up against Israel, Fintan Lane (Irish Examiner letters, August 10) does nothing to resolve the crisis.
Indeed, boycotts worsen it by depriving Palestinians of much needed employment.
Anyone who is genuinely opposed to war should be encouraging the Palestinians, Lebanese and Israelis to get back to the negotiating table and to jointly wipe out the terror organisations Hamas and Hezbollah.
Sadly, whenever it looks like a breakthrough could be near, the Palestinians launch another intifada or Hezbollah — aided and abetted by their paymasters, Iran and Syria — launch more rocket attacks on northern Israel.
It is these violations that Anti-War Ireland should speak up against.
So forgive me if I question their motives. ‘Wage War Against Israel’ might be a more suitable name for them.
