Call for Croke Park boycott disappointing

I FIND it very disappointing that a so-called GAA supporter from Dunmanway would call for a boycott of Cork GAA teams in Croke Park this weekend (Irish Examiner letters, July 29).

As true Cork supporters, we should turn out in large numbers for Billy Morgan’s footballers, John Allen’s hurlers and Ger Fitzgerald’s minor hurlers.

It is disappointing that all games cannot be played together but I don’t accept that the Cork County Board did not do enough.

It did what every other county did, and lobbied central council and the games administration committee to have all Cork games on the same day — but this was turned down.

To blame the Cork County Board is unfair as it worked very hard to try and have the games together.

When it comes to the supporting of our games, Cork people are the best in the land.

I call on all of them to travel for our footballers and hurlers - let’s look forward to All Ireland glory.
