ARTS, Sport and Tourism Minister John O’Donoghue praised the Ken Loach film The Wind That Shakes The Barley for showing “the worst barbarities of imperialist power”.

Witness Iraq where foreign forces of occupation deliberately refuse to account for civilian casualties.

Instead non-combatant fatalities are either categorised as “insurgent” or ignored altogether. Why are uninvolved, inoffensive Iraqis targeted, attacked any duly discounted when dead?

So much then for any natural sense of human dignity or shared humanity.
