Corruption charge

I WISH to congratulate Brian Abbott on his excellent letter headlined ‘Let’s have a corruption conspiracy charge’ (Irish Examiner, June 12).

As he so rightly stated, public officials should be barred from taking up employment with any private company with which their employer has dealings. Politicians who accept bribes should pay the penalty with a long prison sentence.

It’s no longer a case of what I can do for my country but what my country can do for me to feather my own nest.
