Sharing the burden

AFTER the ruling that divorcing partners in the UK are entitled to “an equal share of the assets of their partnership”, should justice not decree they are also equally entitled to an equal share of their debts.

What if the actions of one can be proven to have driven the other to such distraction as to preempt financial disaster, for example? Should the law not always promote accountability? Bread surely is not to be buttered on both sides in the fight for a crust.
