Civil marriage contract offers men a bad deal

THE recent high profile divorce rulings in the UK will serve one useful purpose if they make young men realise that civil marriage is the most dangerous contract they can enter into.

Every day men are entering into marriage but, despite the plethora of pre-marriage courses, they are not informed as to the most vital part of the contract — the termination clause.

Civil marriage is the only contract which is neither shown to nor explained to those who enter into it. Its draconian terms are hidden in rafts of family legislation over which the contracting parties have no control.
