Time is running out for lovely period building

IT is a tragedy that Vernon Mount House in Cork has been allowed to fall into such a state of disrepair over many years.

It is one of the few really important buildings in the Cork city area.

Urgent action is needed to save this exceptionally fine 18th century structure. It is situated in a built-up area and the surroundings are crucially important to the setting of this fine building.

There have been some magnificent recent restorations in Cork city, such as Skiddy’s alms houses, the Civic Trust house, the courthouse, Fenns Quay, etc. This architectural gem deserves better treatment before it is too late.
