The case for nurses

I AM not in a position to assess the pros and cons of the recent differences of opinion between the Government and nurses’ organisations.

However, I have been in hospital in recent times and received excellent treatment from all staff, whether national or non-national. This is especially true of nurses.

As a consequence, when I hear of nurses being accused of resorting to ‘sound bites’ by a Government spokesperson, I get angry.

Members of the Government spend millions of taxpayers’ money issuing ‘soundbites’ day after day in an attempt to boost their individual images.

So it is hypocritical for Government spokespersons to be complaining about nurses using the public media to put their case across.
