Where is film of the ambush sites story?

IN 1963, a film was made at War of Independence ambush sites in the Ballingeary/Ballyvourney area of Co Cork. A description of the relevant happenings at each site was given by a participant, in all cases a local man.

Where is film of the ambush sites story?

The film was undertaken by a group known as Scéim na gCeárdchumann, Cork. The title was Lorg na Laoch and it was screened in a hall in Sundays Well, Cork. This hall was known as Cuan na Laoí, or something similar.

In the recent past, because of my late father’s participation, I have endeavoured, without success, to trace the film’s whereabouts. All my enquiries relating to Scéim na gCeárdcumann and Lorg na Laoch have been fruitless.

I appeal to anybody who has any information about the film to contact me on 064-33432/086 8139416.

This has now become a very important part of the heritage of the Ballingeary/Ballyvourney area and is of great interest also to all the families concerned.
