Taxpayer gets a break as Rambo’s golden capsule crashes to earth

RAY BURKE and NASA’s capsule, Genesis, have a few things in common. They were both in orbit and both came crashing down to earth in spectacular fashion.

Genesis was engaged in a three-year mission to collect stardust from deep space. Ray Burke aka Rambo was collecting gold dust wherever he could.

The €220 million Genesis crashed in the Utah desert when parachutes that should have slowed its re-entry failed to open. Burke's re-entered the real world when he was finally told that taxpayers would not be picking up his legal tab of €10.5 million.
